In Brief: Erie a top place to retire

Erie is being highlighted yet again, thanks to an AARP ranking of inexpensive cities in which to retire.

A list of 10 cheap, comfortable cities was released in October by AARP the Magazine and was cited by Yahoo Finance on Dec. 30. Erie, which came in seventh on the list, was lauded for low home prices, having no taxes on Social Security benefits or pensions, and having “natural treasures” like Presque Isle State Park.

The top place to retire on the list was the Daytona/Deltona/Ormond Beach area of Florida.
